Useful properties of apples
With a sharp change in climatic conditions, the ability of our body to resist various diseases is reduced, thus deteriorates the state of our health. Therefore, it is worth remembering that in any season we can take care of our health conditions with the help of vitamins and minerals, which have their main source in fresh fruits and vegetables.
The ancient Greeks and Romans considered apple (it was the number one product on their table) to be one of these useful products. Having noticed its ability to save and restore health, as well as to enhance the appearance of a person, they provided the apple in their myths – “Trojan cycle”, “Twelve labors of Hercules” – with a symbolic role.
After all, the Greeks believed that through the harmonious combination of internal and external micro-world one can achieve the ideal of education of the individual, that is the kalokagathia (Gr. Καλοκαγαθία, from καλός – beautiful and ἀγαθός – good, moral). Those people who adhere to this principle were known and respected residents of the polis, and bearers of cultural categories: truth, goodness and beauty. Later this idea was picked up by the Romans, who said that “in a healthy body there is a healthy mind” (Lat. “Mens sana in corpore sano”, poet and satirist Juvenal). Therefore, using the principle of kalokagathia, two most famous cultures of the ancient world, which became the basis for the development of the Western-European culture, were formed.
In the modern society with its dynamic pace of life, it is sometimes impossible to adhere to this harmony of the body development. However, there are many products that save time for their preparation and improve the state of our health. One of them is the apple. It contains vitamins: A, B1, B3, PP, E, H, K, C and micro-elements: iron, iodine, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, silicon and zinc. While combining these useful properties, the apple improves the overall state of the body, its physical stamina, strengthens the immune system, creating a natural resistance to seasonal diseases and normalizes cholesterol in the blood. In addition, it improves skin color and hair structure.
Therefore, doctors advise to use it for food in cases of: indigestion, dysentery, diseases of the cardiovascular system, rheumatism, as well as eyesight problems. Children should eat apples not only because they are useful, but because they contain digestible iron which is so necessary for a young body.
They can be eaten raw, roasted or dried as they retain useful properties in any form. This variety of apple diet is presented at “Smakolyk” that takes care of your health and satisfies your taste desires.
